ABOUT PEQUOD

Some of my earliest memories in life revolve around a knife of some sort. From my first Swiss Army Knife to the my first kitchen set I've always had a fascination with knives.

Over the years many of my happiest memories revolve around the meals I create and consume.  I loved prep work and the focus it takes in the kitchen, cooking was an escape and a sharp knife made this easier. I was hooked!

I wanted to take care of my knives and I went through every sharpening system you can buy over the years until I found water stones. Nothing produces a better edge than hand sharpening on high end stones. Water stones protect the blade by controlling the temperature of the blade. Heat can change the hardness and durability of a blade.

Once you use sharp knives you'll never want to go back.  Let me do what I love to do, so you can spend the time doing the things you love to do.

FAQ

Seriously how do I say that?

HOW DOES THIS ALL WORK?

All you need to do is reach out to schedule a time for me to come pick up your knives.  I'll give you an estimate for turn around (typically under 24 hours) and then I'll show up collect your knives, package them for transport and sharpen them before packaging up again and returning to you. It's really that simple!

WHAT DOES YOUR NAME MEAN?

Pequod is the name of the ship in Herman Melville's 'Moby Dick'.  I've always loved that story and learned so much from it that I wanted to tip my cap and hopefully encourage a few people to read it for themselves.

HOW DO I SAY YOUR NAME?

"PeaQuad" (/ˈpiːkwɒd/) - The ship in the Moby Dick is named after the Piquot Tribe of Nantucket (Connecticut) but was spelled with a "d."

CAN YOU REPAIR DAMAGED KNIVES?

Absolutely! From chip removal to full reprofiling and handle replacement I can do it all. Just ask me about pricing.
